Jamie R. Bennett became a licensed and certified recreational therapist in 2013. She has developed and implemented evidence-based recreational therapy programs for a variety of populations, including mental health, older adults, adaptive sports, and hospice care. Jamie has taught and provided training in recreational therapy-related content since 2015 for several organizations in the United States. She is the co-owner and founder of Rec Therapy Solutions, a consulting firm that provides recreational therapy education, services, and oversight to organizations within the community. Jamie is passionate about the profession of recreational therapy and is committed to providing cutting-edge, evidence-based care. Jamie has served the profession both locally and nationally fulfilling roles such as President of URTA, NCTRC Board of Directors, and ATRA Student Development Committee, among other various positions. She has several publications in peer-reviewed journals and is passionate about advancing the professional practice of Recreational Therapy! Recreation has always been her way to “see life differently.” It has been foundational in her character, work ethic, and ability to think outside the box. Having lived in Utah her whole life she has a deep love for the beautiful mountains and finds inspiration in the outdoors. Ashley Bowen, co-owner of Rec Therapy Solutions, has been a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) since 2006 and has been licensed in Utah for several years. She chose a career in Recreational Therapy (RT) because she had seen how recreation improved quality of life for her friends and family with disabilities throughout her life. She has continued to see the power of recreation during her career working in a variety of settings, including in adaptive sports and recreation, in mental and behavioral health treatment, with individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities, with older adults, and in educational settings.   Ashley has also been involved with state and national RT professional organizations, serving in a variety of leadership positions, and supporting legislative efforts. Providing evidence-based interventions and programs, advancement of the profession, and delivering high-quality education and training for Recreational Therapists are the foundation of Ashley’s philosophy and practice.   Ashley is a firm believer that as recreation professionals, we must “practice what we preach.” In her free time, Ashley enjoys spending quality time with her family, traveling, hiking, camping, snowboarding, and playing soccer.
